Movie Review: The Grandmaster

The Kung Fu film, The Grandmaster, directed by Wong Kar-wai had rolled out last year, 2013. The film is not only based on the martial artist, Ip Man, Bruce Lee’s master. What‘s different about the film is that the film showed the spirit, code, commitment, and discipline of martial artists as well as bringing other martial arts: Baguazhan and Bajiquan.

Kung Fu means time. The time and effort you spend to achieve one thing. The main actors and actress had spent few years before shooting the film. Nowadays, not everyone has the time to focus on one thing for a very long time. Also, there are things that people have lost over time due the technological evolution and changes in life style. This leaves us to think about.

The clip below is the footage including Ip Man, interview of various masters, and the journey of actors and actress in this film. It is in Chinese.

This is not just another film of fighting action movie. If you get a chance, have a look. It’s worth it.

Main Actors and Actress: Tony Leung, Zhan Ziyi, and Chan Chen.
